Information We Collect
When you use Pear AI, we collect the following categories of information:
Account information
- Your name, email address, and profile photo from your Google account, provided when you sign in with Google
- A unique user identifier assigned by Firebase Authentication
Recipe data
- Recipes you generate, import, or scan — including titles, descriptions, ingredients, steps, nutrition data, and any generated images
- Folders you create to organise recipes
- Ratings and favourites you assign to recipes
Community data (optional)
- If you choose to publish a recipe publicly, your display name, email address, and recipe content become visible to other users
- Comments and likes you submit on community recipes
We do not collect location data, contacts, browsing history, payment information, health data, or any other sensitive personal information.
How We Use It
We use the information we collect solely to provide and improve Pear AI:
- To authenticate your identity and keep your account secure
- To save and sync your recipes across your devices
- To display your name and photo in the app interface
- To power community features (publishing, comments, likes)
- To send recipe emails when you explicitly request it
- To improve app performance and fix bugs
Camera & Photos
Pear AI requests access to your device camera and photo library for the purpose of scanning ingredients. When you use the Scan feature:
- The image is captured on your device and sent to our AI processing service to identify ingredients
- Images are processed to generate a recipe and are not stored permanently on our servers
- Generated recipe images (created by AI) may be stored alongside your recipe in Firestore
Camera access is entirely optional. You can use Pear to create recipes by typing ingredients without ever granting camera permission.
Data Storage
Your data is stored using Google Firebase (Firestore), a cloud database service operated by Google LLC. Data is stored in Google's secure data centres.
- Authentication is handled by Firebase Authentication
- Recipes, folders, and community content are stored in Cloud Firestore
- Data is associated with your Google account UID and is only accessible by you (except content you explicitly publish to the community)

AI Processing
Pear AI uses AI to generate recipes and analyse ingredient photos. This processing is performed by our backend services hosted on Cloudflare Workers, which use large language models to generate recipe content.
- Recipe generation requests include the ingredients and preferences you provide
- Ingredient scan requests include the image you capture or upload
- These requests are processed in real time and are not used to train AI models on your behalf
- No personally identifiable information is included in AI requests
Community Features
Pear AI includes an optional Community section where users can publish recipes publicly. Please be aware:
- Any recipe you publish will display your name, email address, and recipe content to all users of the app
- Comments you post are visible to all users
- You can take down your published recipes at any time from within the app
- Do not publish content containing personal information you do not wish to share publicly
Your Rights
You have the following rights with respect to your personal data:
- Access: You can view all recipes and data stored in your account within the app
- Deletion: You can delete individual recipes from within the app at any time. To request complete deletion of your account and all associated data, contact us at the address below
- Correction: You can edit recipe titles, descriptions, and other content directly in the app
- Portability: Your recipe content can be shared or exported using the app's Share and Print features
- Withdraw consent: You can sign out of Pear AI at any time from the Settings screen. Signing out stops any further data collection
Children's Privacy
Pear AI is designed to be family-friendly. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under the age of 13 without verifiable parental consent. Sign-in requires a Google account, which has its own age requirements.
If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided personal information through Pear AI without your consent, please contact us and we will promptly delete that information.
Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information:
- All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
- Firestore security rules restrict data access to the owning user account
- Authentication is handled entirely by Google — we never see or store your password
No method of transmission over the internet is 100% secure. While we strive to protect your information, we cannot guarantee absolute security.
App Store Distribution
Pear AI is distributed exclusively through the Apple App Store. By downloading and using Pear AI, you also agree to Apple's terms and privacy practices.
- All app updates are delivered free of charge through the App Store — you will never be charged for an update to Pear AI
- Apple may collect certain data related to your download and device as part of their standard App Store operations, independent of Pear AI
- Apple's privacy policy governs any data collected by Apple in connection with your use of the App Store

Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify users within the app.
Continued use of Pear after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
